Chief Data and AI Officer at Medical Concepts

Dr. Justin Coran is an analytics executive (CDAIO / CAO), data scientist and 2024 AI Award winner for top 100 executives, which was received due to innovations in healthcare using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). Experience and passion spans across operational segments such as AI/ ML, Data Engineering, Statistics & Analysis, Cloud-based Infrastructure & Technology, Governance Frameworks (Data, Analytics, and AI ), Reporting & Visualization Systems, and AI / Analytic monetization. In 2025, Justin joined Medical Concepts as their Chief Data and AI Officer and co-leads IT and Technology operations across multiple business segments. Medical Concepts is a global for-profit company focused on healthcare delivery, ambulatory surgical centers and outpatient services, technology innovation (including AI), and consulting and management. Prior to joining Medical Concepts, Justin was the Chief Analytics Officer of Renown Health (Reno, NV) and an adjunct professor in the University of Reno School of Medicine. At Renown, Justin led a division of 60 professionals and was responsible for operations related to data engineering, data analytics, and data science. Key accomplishments include building Renown's first analytics governance program, cloud-based enterprise data warehouse in Microsoft Fabric, deploying AWS cloud-based infrastructure for a new call center, and led the integration of Renown's first AI/ML products for clinical care and administration workflows. Justin worked at NOMS Healthcare and University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland, OH. In both companies, Justin led the development of data science and analytics while serving as each company's first analytics leader and C-Suite whisperer. Key accomplishments include (1) building a next generation reporting system for population health management; (2) the development of a predictive modeling technique that explores tradeoffs patients make when selecting hospitals and surgeons; (3) development of the health system's first Enterprise Data Warehouse; and (4) customized risk stratification algorithms to improve care. Justin is a author with over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Justin completed his graduate training at the University of Florida where he received his Doctoral degree in Medical Sociology and a Master of Public Health degree in hospital administration and epidemiology. In 2021, Justin completed an executive coaching program for business leaders at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.
